Heavier Than I Knew

If you follow my blog regularly, you will have noticed I didn't post yesterday.  I've been pretty down in the dumps lately over my migraines.  I hate to say that I'm depressed because I started feeling bad again, but when my health went backwards instead of forwards it really frustrated me.  It's still frustrating me.  I even think I feel better and then I start to do something (because I'm feeling better) and I'll feel bad again.  It has given me the strangest urge to sob at any little thing.
I didn't really feel like blogging yesterday, but there have been many times where I've just sucked it up and felt accomplished after I posted even just a little something.  Then I realized it was Sunday.  Sunday meant that it was my "five things I'm thankful for" day and I just couldn't do it.  Of course, I had things I'm thankful for.  I'm always thankful for my family (including my puppies and my kitty).  That could have been three things already, but I wanted to be thankful for other things.  So here's my second attempt at things five things I'm thankful for this past week.
It's almost Tuesday and my turn to host Book Club!
meaning I get to feel like a grown-up because even though I'm hosting in my parent's house,
I'm the actual host (not my mom)
I feel like I'm preparing a very small feast of desserts
I won't ruin the surprise for the ladies who are coming
but I will say one of the things involves watermelon
I found out this morning that there is a Little Free Library in Mississippi
in Arkabutla to be exact
I don't have a picture but it still makes me feel a little better about the state of Mississippi
The simple fact that I don't feel as bad as I did on Thursday and Friday

I might get to hang this amazing piece of art on my wall
(it's from Hawaii)

Don't Want to Worry the Rest of My Life

5 things I'm thankful for this week:
I got to see my sister and her husband in Hawaii for a whole week
My adorable puppy is feeling just fine after his neutering surgery
I'm home again! It's always nice to be back home after a vacation
I got to meet new friends (and help an old one continue to celebrate her birthday)
We got to go to Holli's Sweet Tooth while I was in Oxford

It All Started Long Ago

I didn't really get a chance to post last night because I was on a plane flying back from Hawaii to the good ole Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter (aka Mississippi).  I thought I wasn't going to do much explaining, just post pictures, but that doesn't exactly do them justice does it?
For our last day we ate at the most wonderful Cafe Haleiwa.
They have the most delicious pancakes one could ever ask for
(and they are humongous to boot!)
Then after a short trip back home (to MM & Greg's) we ventured over to where the old Sugar Mills used to be.
Greg had some awesome art from a local artist that Mom just had to try.  The following pictures are from around in his workshop (I believe I've already posted a brief glimpse).   This guy is pretty awesome he does "pop art" as Mom calls it out of the same material that you would use to make a surfboard.  You can find out more information on his work at TwoCrowsSurfboards.com
Here is a really cool video that can be found on their blog about "How to Make Resin Art"
(yeah, that's pretty much the title of the video).  I thought I'd add it in for good measure.
Then we went to Lowes and Home Depot in search of sealing wax palms and other plants.
I love this blooming pink tree that seems to always have blooms!
And back home for a little walk-about on and off the leash.
Before we left we found a brewery that had just opened a restaurant (like 2 months earlier!) and I loved trying out all the different beers (and a new kind of fried rice, eaten only with chopsticks).
We boarded the plane right after dinner and then flew all night to get in around 3 o'clock central time.  (So we started traveling at 2 o'clock am central time and didn't stop for the next 13 hours.)
If that doesn't wear you out I don't know what will.
And of course the obligatory picture of the pups back home!
Oscar's fur is getting long, wavy, and just bushy enough.  I love it.
He has his surgery tomorrow to make him a little less of a man.
He's getting so grown up!

With a Vision of a Gentle Coast

Today has been another long day for me.  But we leave tomorrow and I feel like we just got here.  I'm really going to miss being here.
