Mood Boards Abound

If you are not already familiar with "mood boards" or inspiration boards, I will explain.  They are a collection of pictures and colors that inspire you for whatever task you are undertaking.  Designers, stylists, photographers, and even everyday people have begun to use them to collect their thoughts.  You could think of it as a condensed version of something like a "wedding binder" that brides use when they start to plan their wedding, sometimes they are picking out what they really want and sometimes the brides are just picking out all the different things that they like so they can figure out how they can mesh it together for their dream dress/ceremony/decorations/etc.  For the most part it is pretty self explanatory and better explained with examples than with words.

Here is a color board from the website 100 Layer Cake (a wedding site) that has a special inspiration binder blog.  This blog has not only color boards like the one below but also different examples of how colors can be carried through weddings with whole weddings and receptions planned out by designers (I think).  The color board below has such a pretty combination of summer colors that do not even have to be for a wedding but that can be put to good use in every day life for any other party event or just put together in an outfit.

My main reason for explaining color and mood boards is because there is a new website called Pinterest.  This website allows you to create as many boards as you want and to "pin" the images you like that you find on the internet.  My boards include photography, home decorating, do it yourself projects, clothes, and even a special project I am working on.  When you "pin" a specific image you like you also have to give a little description about the image or why you're pinning it which is helpful when you are looking back through the images. You can even see what other people have pinned and can go back to the original source of the image.  The only thing is you have to ask to be "invited" but I do not think they have turned any one away.  I have really enjoyed using it so far and I do not think I am going to stop any time soon.  It helps me organize my ideas that I find online so I am not scrambling trying to find this craft that I wanted to do I can just click on my DIY board, find the image, and go back to the instructions.  They also have an iPhone application which is making even more addicting in my book.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  Happy pinning!

Wine Bottle Light

In my photo of the day from Wednesday I showed a picture from where Amber and I almost drilled a hole in a wine bottle.  We were inspired by a post found on the blog whit & whistle.  They turned an empty wine bottle into a night light.  I am somewhat afraid of dark which has been worsen by the mass amount of spiders I have recently found in my home (all three of them).  This project leaves you with not only a light but something that can only be considered a work of art.  Who ever thought this one up is genius.  However, Amber and I decided that we were not experienced enough (after several attempts to start drilling) to create the hole needed.  Both of us were cringing at the thought of the whole bottle busting and glass shards flying everywhere. We are going to ask our fathers for their help, I do believe.  In the meantime, here are the beautiful pictures from the Whit & Whistle blog.  Do go over and check out how to make this wonderful light.

Today you're lucky enough to get two pictures.
Mostly because I just couldn't make up my mind which one to post.
This is my favorite.

But this one explains why Amber is wearing safety gloves and glasses.
We decided that we were going to drill a hole in the wine bottle she is holding.
But we didn't.  We chickened out because we didn't really know what we were doing.

I'm pretty sure this is the first and biggest spider I have ever killed.
P.S. I know it doesn't look big in the picture,
but I didn't want to get too close and disturb it before I was ready.

Whenever I see the sun like this it always makes me think of the power of God.
And how his light shines down on us.

Mom and Dad came to stay with me for the 4th of July weekend.
Yep, I was adult enough to host them.  It was fun... and tiring.

Sometimes you have the best ideas, and sometimes the worst ideas are disguised as the best ones.
Note: I walked home early.
Note on the note:  I live a block or two from the square and this was at 8:30 pm... my only drink.

Yes, this pasta was sooo stinking delicious.
And no, I will never stop eating pasta... I'm addicted.

First time taking someone's senior pictures.
Drew was a dream to work with, now I have all these ideas bubbling up from inside of me.
I just hope I can figure out how to put them onto the web before I spontaneously combust.
Oh and in case you were wondering, yes this is the same spot Will took me just the day before.

There are more where this came from.

All Apologies

Hey guys,

I am so sorry I have not updated in about a week, going on two.  Things here have been super busy and continue to get more so.  My main reason is that I have not been able to access my picture from Monday, June 27.  Which is not really reason I know, but I'm just learning how to balance everything and be an adult all at the same time.  I do realize that is a little weird since I am almost 22, but hey, maturity comes when it wants to or really whenever you want it to.  I promise I will be more faithful updating from now on.  You never know, I might even post more interesting things than just pictures.  Only time will tell, so even though I've let you down before, don't quit checking back.  Please and thank you!
