Walk a Little Walk, Smile, Talk Big Thoughts

This afternoon I took my beautiful puppies on a walk.  While Jack was more interested in being way ahead of me and explorative (for the most part), Oscar loved running back to me.  In fact he was really the only one who paid attention to my whistles (which were pretty pathetic I have to admit) or to any of my calling.  He would run to me, maybe sit down if he wanted to, and then he would race to catch up with whatever Jack was doing.  I had already checked the mail, so I wouldn't have to worry about Oscar not listening and running into the street.  Since he now has all of his shots, once my parents get back I was planning on taking him to obedience training.  (We'll have to ask if we can give him Dramamine before or if that would actually mess up his training.)  He has gotten so big!  I remember when he had to put his paws in the birdbath to actually drink from it, but now he's tall enough to reach it without any trouble.  I'm a little sad he is growing up so much, but his biting has greatly improved so I'm happy with the fact that he is maturing.  (Now if only he would jump on visitors...)

I've been trying to do my research about the whole grooming thing.  Did you know that when you shave a dog it actually makes them hotter?  Yeah, apparently the coat acts as insulation so he's not as hot.  Very interesting, but it's good that I don't have to shave Oscar because I have fallen in love with the shaggy coat (actually I've always been in love with the sheepdog look, I have wanted a Komodor who actually looks more like a mop than an actual dog).  I thought I would share cute adorable pictures of a grown goldendoodle.  Who really knows how curly his coat is going to be, but I'm hoping it's more curly than just wavy.  I can't wait until he grows up so I can see what he's going to look like.

Seriously, who doesn't want a puppy like this one.

Not a hairstyle I would really want to give Oscar, but it is pretty rocking.

I also checked out some poodle hairstyles.  Believe me they get some pretty outrageous looks.  Well, you don't have to believe me because I have some pictures as an example.  I guess if I ever get bored with Oscar's color I could always dye him pink or maybe blue since it's a little more masculine.  I love the last picture, it was the only real blue picture I could find.  Plus I adore the fact that the dog is more blue and blue as opposed to just one color blue.  I doubt that my parents would really allow me to dye Oscar.  But did you know that poodles really have hair, not fur?  It makes me wonder how Oscar's coat will turn out.  Is there such thing as half-hair, half-fur?  I don't know.  I guess we'll just have to see.  Also I included some photos (well really a photo) of some pretty amazing cuts (and color).

How weird are some of these haircuts?  A My Little Pony Poodle?  Who wouldn't want one of those?   Or an Elvis Poodle?  Amazing!  Just saying.  I wish I were a groomer who could definitely do some of these things.  That's talent right there.
