While my parents are living it up in Germany with my brother, things have been rather quiet around the house and rather boring. It was nice for the first couple of days, but now I'm ready for everyone to be home already. Well, minus the whole I haven't gotten everything I'm supposed to get done while their gone. I've been experimenting a little with foods, but that's about all I've been doing. I tried to make some manicotti and it didn't turn out like I hoped it would. I think I may have overcooked the noodles and then overcooked the dish once it was all put together as well. I also just made some rainbow cupcakes, but they didn't quite turn out like I hoped. I think I just need to a different recipe (it took 3 whole sticks of butter!). I used the recipe I found through FoodGawker, but I think it was originally on the Martha Stewart website. You can find the recipe here.
I'm not the biggest fan of frosting on cupcakes. I think the cupcake should be wonderful enough to eat it alone. At a certain time sure frosting can be a good thing, but I mostly just like the cupcake itself when I'm cooking for myself. Plus I'm pretty much eating a whole thing of cupcakes by myself so if I don't add the calories of frosting (it makes me feel just a little better about stuffing my face).
I think I've said this on here before, but there is something about a well done "cover" (by this I mean a band "covering" someone else's original song). I love this acoustic version of "Pretty Girl Rock" especially because it's done by a boy band. (P.S. boy bands are definitely coming back.) About half of the songs I love on the radio are sung by boy bands and I'm not ashamed of it. (Just to name of few of these boy bands, there is One Direction, The Wanted, and I always like to think of the Biebs (Justin Bieber) as a boy band, but he's not (even though he does have some pretty catchy tunes) and that's all of the boy bands I can think of right now. However, these two bands seem like they are everywhere. And that's my spiel on boy bands as of right now.) Anyway, I hope you enjoy this cover as much as I did, and are as impressed by the way they make their sound just as much.
